BETHESDA, MD (July 27, 2017) — Columbia Books & Information Services (CBIS) announced today that its board of directors elected Brittany Carter as its new president effective July 31, 2017. Carter will succeed Joel Poznansky, who has led the company for the last decade. Poznansky will remain in his role as CEO and chairman of the board.

“I am delighted for Brittany Carter to become the new president of CBIS.  Over her 11 year tenure with the company, she has exhibited her extensive industry knowledge, an expansive network and strong leadership.  She is the perfect person to take the reins of our dynamic and rapidly growing company,” said Joel Poznansky, CEO.

During her CBIS career, Carter has progressed through various leadership roles since joining the company in 2006. Carter initially led the marketing and business development teams before being promoted to vice president in 2015. During her time with the company she has played a key role in driving strong year-over-year revenue growth while simultaneously leading new product development, data licensing negotiations, the creation of the company’s robust training offerings and most recently the refocusing of the organization’s structure. In 2013 she was named the specialized publishing industry’s Rising Star by SIPA and continues to advocate for innovation within the publishing industry.

Pardha Karamsetty, member of the board of directors since 2007, echoed Poznansky’s comments. “The Board was unanimous in its selection of Brittany Carter as the next president of CBIS.  This move recognizes a transition that has been well underway for the past year.”

“I’ve been fortunate to have spent the past 11 years becoming deeply involved with our distinct customer communities at an organization like CBIS where employee development and innovation is such a focus. I’m honored to be selected to step into the shoes of my longtime mentor. I look forward to working with our dynamic team to continue on a path of further growth,” stated Carter.
