Arlington, VA (11/17/20) – Thompson Grants, a division of CBIS, is pleased to announce that it has launched two new desktop references that help grant managers navigate the 2020 Uniform Guidance revisions, which became effective for new and modifications to existing grants on November 12, 2020.

A Practical Guide to Managing Federal Grants From Solicitation Through Audit, 3rd Edition, is an updated version of the popular and comprehensive management guide, compliance document and training tool for busy grants managers, program directors, financial officers and auditors at nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and state and local governments. The third edition of this best-selling guide will help grant professionals develop effective internal policies and controls, and understand vital new requirements that will affect their funding, such as:

  • Changes to the micro-purchase threshold discussion
  • Information related to legally binding requirements on grants
  • New pass-through guidance on accepting indirect cost rates
  • Greater emphasis on domestic preference and U.S.-based procurements
  • Analysis on the expanded acceptance of the de minimis indirect cost rate

The Guide is written by Bob Lloyd, a recognized authority on policies and practices affecting the award, administration and oversight of federal grants and contracts. He has more than 40 years of experience in federal award implementation and is the principal author of several reference works on federal grants management and audits.

Thompson Grants also is launching 2 CFR 200 Uniform Guidance: 2020 Revisions Edition, a clean and easy-to-read desktop copy that displays the 2 CFR 200, as revised, containing critical information that will impact both new and modifications to existing awards. This desktop reference includes new federal requirements, such as:

  • The revised definitions for period of performance and budget period
  • A new requirement for pre-award program planning and design (200.202)
  • New prohibitions on certain telecommunications and video surveillance services or equipment (200.216)
  • A requirement setting for the posting of negotiated indirect cost rate agreements on a federal website
  • Many other new and revised requirements

"I am proud that Thompson Grants has stayed ahead of the Uniform Guidance revisions, and that we can provide our customers with the information they will need to incorporate these changes into their internal policies to better maintain their federal funding," said Julie Rachlin, Managing Director of Thompson Grants. "Once again, our editorial team has produced outstanding resources that builds on Thompson Grants’ reputation of being a trusted partner for federal grant recipients."
