The Budget Is Here! The Budget Is Here!
| Date Posted: February 14, 2012 |
Yesterday, President Obama released his proposed budget for fiscal year 2013, and it was possible to hear the laughter from Capitol Hill at our offices a few blocks away. Let’s face it: the responsibility of proposing a federal budget during an election year while the deficit hawks are circling is not for the faint of heart. And as expected, members of Congress who have been calling for an aggressive reduction of the federal deficit or otherwise oppose the administration’s approach to federal spending were quick to skewer the proposed budget for its failure to meet the deficit-cutting targets that the president identified when he entered office.
We’ll be following the debates over the FY 2013 budget request and digging into its potential impact on competitive grant programs. For the moment, we want to let you know where you can find the information yourself.
The whole thing (if you are a glutton for punishment) is available here and the summary tables are available here. An overview from Jeff Zients, the acting director of the Office of Management and Budget is available here.
