| Date Posted: September 27, 2012 |
The Department of Health and Human Services announced the invitation of four new members to the Secretary's Advisory Committee on Human Research Protections (SACHRP), including a new chair, Jeffrey Botkin, the associate vice president for research at the University of Utah. Botkin had been a member of SACHRP from 2006 to 2009.
The other three new members of SACHRP are:
-
Thomas Eissenberg, director of Clinical Behavioral Pharmacology Laboratory at Virginia Commonwealth University; - Owen Garrick, president and CEO of Bridge Clinical Research, Inc.; and
- Pilar Ossorio, an associate professor of law and bioethics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
The new members replace Gary Gibbons who stepped down from the committee this spring after he was named the director of the NIH's National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), SACHRP chair Barbara Bierer, and members David Forster and Stephen Sodeke, whose terms end in October.
The terms of all four new members will end in October 2016.
More on the SACHRP appointments will be in the November issue of the Guide to Good Clinical Practice.
